Vampires & Fizzy Pop & Art Passes…

Now With Extra Giraffes.

Den Patrick created one of these. Awesome work Den. The peculiar little guy is The Fizzy Pop Vampire. For the most part he steals lemonade, cupcakes and hunts about for a new set of teeth. Poor dental hygiene, you see.Hello Mr Fizzy Pop Vampire
You can read more about him on your iPad. He’s actually a children’s book. Oh, and he has a best friend call Keith. Keith is a giraffe.

Lavie Tidhar. Tel Aviv Dossiers.

And Tea Stains.

Into the city of Tel Aviv the whirlwinds come, and nothing will ever be the same.
[blockquote blockquote_style=”overlayed” align=”none” text_align=”center” cite=”- Lavie Tidhar -“]

Through a city torn apart by a violence they cannot comprehend, three disparate people—a documentary film-maker, a yeshiva student, and a psychotic fireman—must try to survive, and try to find meaning: even if it means being lost themselves. As Tel Aviv is consumed, a strange mountain rises at the heart of the city, and shows the outline of what may be another, alien world beyond. Can there be redemption there? Can the fevered rumours of a coming messiah be true?

As the city loses contact with the outside world and closes in on itself, as the few surviving children play and scavenge in the ruins, can innocence survive, and is it possible for hope to spring amid such chaos?

A potent mixture of biblical allusions, Lovecraftian echoes, science fiction and contemporary culture, The Tel Aviv Dossier is part supernatural thriller, part meditation on the nature of belief—an original and involving novel painted on a vast canvas in which, beneath the despair, humour is never absent.

And it needs a new cover.

Well, that’s very kind of Aunty Fox to say so but ten books? TEN BOOKS? That’s a lotta pixels. Exciting an’ scary… in equal measure. And when so many authors are going to be spending so much time scribbling away for these anthologies? I feel the least I can do is try and give them a snappy package for their work to be showcased in.

New logo design for Hodder & Stoughton publishers Hodderscape books. Simple, stylized dodo icon in blue and black. And cute.

Hodderscape & Designing A Dodo…

Hodder. Hodderscape. And Designing A Dodo…

Sometime you’re lucky enough to be offer nice jobs. Jobs where you just can’t wait to get started because the idea is so much fun. And when the brief says ‘We need a dodo.’ You can totally count me in.It turns out that the lovely folk at Hodder & Stoughton have exciting, new plans for Hodderscape – their online community for all things Science Fiction, fantasy and horror. They’d like a new logo. A dodo. And when their list consists of author such as Stephen King, Benjamin Percy, Laini Taylor, Jasper Fforde and Daniel Polansky? I thinking I had better come up with a good dodo. A pretty damned good dodo. Apparently Jasper Fforde is naming said dodo. Erm… so no pressure there then.

Okay. Time to hit the pencils.
