Speculative Fiction 2012: Jurassic London
Speculative Fiction 2012 won the British Fantasy Society Award 2014 for Non-Fiction! So super pleased about that because Jared Shurin an’ Justin Landon did a amazing job of putting the project together, so many people contributed so much fascinating work and hey, I designed the cover as my tiny contribution to the whole thing!

Fox Spirit Gets Saucy…

Fox Spirit Extricate: Love Hurts… But That’s The Way She Likes It.

Being asked to illustrate book jackets is always great… well, because then I get to read the story first. Awesome. And when Fox Spirit were kind enough to send a copy of ‘s – ‘s, ahem – ‘Extricate’ novel my way, with the promise of kinky-crime-noir, well, who could say no?

Extricate is a violent tale of sexual obsession, unfolding on the dark streets of a nowhere town. Peter falls for Judy the instant he lights her cigarette, but she’s his best mate’s girl — and he’s already married. He decides to begin removing obstacles — starting with his wife. How far will he be willing to go? How far does lifelong friendship go when he finally meets the woman of his peculiar dreams?

Hodderscape & Designing A Dodo…

Hodder. Hodderscape. And Designing A Dodo…

Sometime you’re lucky enough to be offer nice jobs. Jobs where you just can’t wait to get started because the idea is so much fun. And when the brief says ‘We need a dodo.’ You can totally count me in.It turns out that the lovely folk at Hodder & Stoughton have exciting, new plans for Hodderscape – their online community for all things Science Fiction, fantasy and horror. They’d like a new logo. A dodo. And when their list consists of author such as Stephen King, Benjamin Percy, Laini Taylor, Jasper Fforde and Daniel Polansky? I thinking I had better come up with a good dodo. A pretty damned good dodo. Apparently Jasper Fforde is naming said dodo. Erm… so no pressure there then.

Okay. Time to hit the pencils.

Kitschies & Krakens 2012

The Kitschies, presented by Kraken Rum, reward the year’s most progressive, intelligent and entertaining works that contain elements of the speculative or fantastic.

- The Kitschies -

Well, who wouldn’t want to design a poster for that, right? Especially as it means I get to draw tentacles. Heh. Kraken Rum have just lovely graphics for their tasty tipple. Really nice stuff. But rather than simply copy their illustrations I wanted a tiny monster all of my own.

And – when it’s for the only awards ceremony where you actually win a tentacle – I feel you should clearly make an effort!
